Friday night lights are on again! The teams have been studying the playbooks and huddling up for practice. These practices usually begin with two-a-days to condition the mind, body, and heart to work as a united team. To put a win on the scorecard, the teams ultimately have to go on the field and apply everything they have learned and practiced with all the heart they have. And sometimes, these teams and players will walk away with the feeling of a loss. Great teams will go back and huddle up to make needed adjustments to prove they can win.
Jesus wants us to turn on the lights as well. In Luke 10, a lawyer is trying to test Jesus with the question “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus replies, “What is written in the Law?” The lawyer answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and all your mind” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The big question then is, “Who is my neighbor?” You can read more about the “Good Samaritan” in Luke 10 and how Jesus was trying to get the crowd to see the Light of Love God. Love people. Prove it.
Jesus desires that we would study the playbook, huddle up, and then head into the mission field. Are you ready? Are your mind, body, soul, and heart prepared to build the Kingdom with God’s guidance in the Lake Forest area and beyond? The good news is we are already on the winning team. The win is because of everything Jesus does in His love and forgiveness with the cross and empty tomb. You just need to be willing to take the field on His behalf and love God, love people, prove it. Let’s go TEAM!
