Women of Faith would like to thank all who came out or donated baby items to support Aid for Women of Northern Lake County (AFW). Carol Walsh, director of AFW, and her staff were brought to tears as they unwrapped the gifts. It was evident that each gift represented a need met for a young mother in crisis.
Founded in 1983, AFW is an all-volunteer pregnancy center located in Gurnee. They offer free pregnancy testing and doctor referrals for prenatal care. But beyond giving much needed medical care, Carol and her staff provide emotional support for women who may not have support elsewhere. Many of the new mothers continue to visit the center because of the love and support the staff provides. If you were unable to attend or would like to continue to support the center, AFW is always in need of baby care products, such as diapers, formula, wipes, baby bottles, and baby clothes (up to 12 months). Collections are also taken for playpens, highchairs, strollers, swings, and other baby items, as well as Wal-Mart gift cards. Please pray for these wonderful women and the young mothers in their care.
