What Does the Red Letter Challenge Mean to Me?

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I pray you are well. God loves you perfectly. His love for you is so deep you can’t get under it, so wide you can’t get around it, and so high you can’t get over it. So great is His love for you! His love changes us in every way; He is love. His love cannot remain in you; His love desires to flow out of you and into your world around you.

We are in the Red Letter Challenge as a congregation. We are looking at the words which Jesus Himself (often printed in Bibles with red letters, thus the title for the book) said to describe what it means to be a follower of His.

We will focus on five areas:

  • Being with Jesus today in our daily life
  • Forgiving
  • Serving
  • Giving
  • Going

In talking with our staff, we agreed that a couple of things are important to highlight. First of all, it is not too late to jump in and join the Red Letter Challenge. We are doing this for 40 days. The book itself is a daily devotional, and we are using it every night in our 7:15 PM broadcast on Facebook. These LIVE devotions can be viewed at any time; most of our views come after the 7:15 broadcast; and by God’s grace, we are getting lots of participants.  **If you need a copy of the book, please contact Maree at our church office and she will help you.

Secondly, in our Daily Devotionals and as we go through our sermons in the Red Letter Challenge, I will be highlighting areas of our church’s ministry to which the given topic of the week speaks. These are areas in which you can personally participate. For example, we will be highlighting Asher, our Comfort Dog. (I know this video is going to get TONS of viewers.) This is a great ministry of our church, and he fits in perfectly with what we are talking about in the Red Letter Challenge. We will also highlight our community gardens and the community-based organizations that we are partnering with; you will learn more about what we are doing and how God could use you in this ministry.

I am so excited! Let’s give God a praise clap! Go in peace and serve the Lord.

V/r,

Pastor Jim
