On Friday, August 26, Women of Faith hosted a Wine and Cheese Potluck Rally for the women of Faith’s 11-congregation circuit.
As they arrived, women were greeted by the soundtrack of “Take Heart!,” composed and performed by Lana Gibbons, as the theme song for the biennial District Convention of LWML-Lutheran Women in Mission that will be held September 23-24 in Carol Stream.
While women enjoyed the variety of delectable wines, cheeses, fruit and chocolate, they were treated to a video devotion centered on the message of John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Ladies then received instruction in the assembly of crosses for the LWML International Convention that will be held in Milwaukee, June 22-25, 2023.
As they continued to assemble crosses, those in attendance were greeted by the evening’s presenter, Gayle Thanepohn, nominee for president of the 220-congregation Northern Illinois District of LWML. Gayle conveyed greetings from the Executive Board of the district and provided updates regarding recent and upcoming activities within the district as well as those of the International LWML.
