Persistence in North Chicago

For almost a year now, we have been visiting the community of North Chicago. By the grace of God and by your prayers, we continue to stand knocking on doors, visiting families, and building relationships. We see the need that there is in each one. We have learned to listen and know that God is working in these families.

This month we have come to know Estela’s family. She received us for the first time and invited us to enter her house. She was happy to see us once again and grateful to God for the prayers. She recently received test results from her doctor that came out negative for cancer. She had previously asked for our prayers. Being able to see the joy on her face for what God is doing is something wonderful to experience.

Estela also introduced us to her mother, who was at home. We talked for a good while about when she was a girl, the town where she was born, and how she is from Guanajuato, Mexico. She has two adult children and two grandchildren, so it is a large family. After talking with her, we asked if we could give her a Bible study from time to time, and she answered yes. It is truly a joy to know that while we persist in visiting families week after week, God is working. Even when nothing seems to happen, He is working.

On November 12, we will have our monthly Hispanic Women’s Ministry meeting, at which Delin will be teaching about the identity of women.

We have also already made plans to work with the Waukegan community garden next year. We have two families signed up. We will continue to encourage other families to plant their vegetables, and through all of this, they get to know God, the giver of life, Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
