Spring 2023 is only a few weeks away! It’s time to start thinking about helping at the Imani and Prince of Peace (POP) Gardens. Each garden has some very important tasks needed to get ready for the new season. First, cleaning up last year’s plants and weeds needs to happen. Then we need to get the soil ready for planting.
IMAMI (AT FAITH) GARDEN
The need for volunteers is especially important. There are 14 raised beds that will need work. While we won’t plant new seeds until the end of April or early May, the clean up can begin any time the winter weather clears out. Our goal is to be equally, or even more productive, than in 2022. A large volume of green beans, peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers were donated to COOL Pantry.

PRINCE OF PEACE (POP) GARDEN
Families will be undertaking the responsibility for their own planting bed. This year, the planting area will be significantly increased. They will begin work as soon as the weather allows. There is a substantial amount of garden area to be cleaned up and a need for the soil to be prepared. We expect to rent some equipment to make this work productive.
In the past this garden has produced a large volume of produce. We know we can get back to those productivity levels.
