Do You See Your Baptism?

DO YOU SEE YOUR BAPTISM? by Pastor Jim

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, the “Bentwood Spiral” pictured here, was designed and made by Austrian Gebruder Thonet in 1885. It is an amazing piece of art. This spiral was made out of one continuous piece of ash wood that was 28 feet long. Yes, 28 feet long. And it was perfectly straight when he began.

How?

With water, a form, and perfectly applied pressure over a long period of time.

Look closer at the picture.

Do you see the darkness at the center? Did you notice how you start to see more and more light as the spiral grows? Do you see any musical notes? What do you see in the picture?

Do you notice how tender and slender it begins at the core and how mature and massive it has grown to by the end?

Can you make out the grains of wood which run perfectly parallel?

Can you see the stain and the gloss which show off the wood in the best possible light?

Do you have amazement at the hands, craft, wisdom and vision of the artist?

Sometimes your life may feel like you are endlessly going in a circle. Have no fear; if you have been Baptized, you are His child and He has a purpose.

You probably do not think of yourself as someone who inspires others. But the work of God in your heart and life is beautiful. It is admired. And God is glorified.
