North Chicago Outreach Update

NORTH CHICAGO OUTREACH UPDATE by Gerardo & Delin Hernandez

I want to begin with this passage from Paul’s letter to the Romans 1:13-16, which inspires me with love for God and our Lord Jesus Christ to spread the gospel, and we pray to God that He will continue to inspire both the will and the ability to do His will. I want you to know that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the gentiles. I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. So, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. For I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

BIBLE STUDY GROUP AT FAITH

On November 8th, the Hispanic group met for their monthly Bible study, which takes place every second Saturday at 6:30 pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Lake Forest, IL. Thanks to the Faith Lutheran team for their support of the Hispanic group. This support has been so significant that it has allowed them to help the Hispanic community by providing prayers and food. Entire families have been impacted by their support, both spiritually and physically. The love of God is reflected in every gesture of the support group.

HOME BIBLE STUDY

We are one Church, two locations and seven Home Bible Studies. The Hispanic ministry in Lake Forest continues to bring the word of God to families in North Chicago and Waukegan, conducting Bible studies in the homes of families who welcome us with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are families who hunger to hear the word of God and have their faith strengthened in these challenging times. They are grateful for the word and the support they receive, as many are unable to attend a church service and prefer to be visited in their homes to hear the word, become familiar with God and His word, and unite with others to get to know each other better. Thank you, God, for the opportunity you give us to share your word. We bless homes and those who share your words. Amen.

DELIVERING FOOD AND SUPPLIES TO FAMILIES

More than fourteen Hispanic families have benefited from food donations this month. Church members have come together to support Hispanic families with essential food items such as beans, oil, rice, juices, toilet paper, sugar, coffee, and more. We know these items will be used for daily consumption in their homes. This is God’s love shown to our neighbors through members of the Lutheran church who have contributed with generous hearts. The Hispanic families are grateful to feel and see the great appreciation shown to them. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
