North Chicago Outreach Update by Gerardo & Delin Hernandez
On February 6th, the senior group from our Faith Lutheran church met to prepare lunches and clothing for the North Chicago and Waukegan communities. Led by Jan Bersano and Maree Garchow, every first Friday of the month small groups of men and women gather to help us support our communities so that we are able to share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. The lunches are packed and ready to be delivered, as well as clothing packaged and labeled for distribution. Thank you for being part of the Great Commission we have as a church, which is to share the gospel.
During the Bible studies in each home, the leaders were given clothing to distribute to their neighbors and friends in order to build relationships and invite them to the Bible study. Irwin, Modesto, Kevin, and Santos are sharing the gospel with their friends and neighbors. Thank you to each and every one for being part of what God is doing in the community. We find so much need in the community and are thankful for those who are taking the opportunity to share God’s word. We hope that every leader, in every home, develops the gifts and talents God has given to expand his or her kingdom wherever God places them.
Sharing with the Hispanic group — On Valentine’s Day, we shared a time of refreshments with the Hispanic group at our church. Food was plentiful, and sisters Jan and Cheryl prepared a meal that the Hispanic group enjoyed. God bless them for their service to the group.
Cleaning the Prince of Peace – Garden in Waukegan
We are a few months away from the opportunity for families to plant in the Prince of Peace Garden in Waukegan. We are forming a team to clean the area on April 18th at 9:00AM. The youth group from our church – and all members – are invited to participate. We will be mowing the lawn, tilling and preparing the soil, and cleaning the apple trees around the garden. We need you to bring tools for the job (rake, hoe, shovel, etc.) The address is: 2720 N McAree Rd, Waukegan, IL, 60087.
