JOIN MEMBERS TO “SHINE!” GOD’S LOVE by Jan Bersano
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:16, “…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Throughout the month of April, the LCMS Northern Illinois District will be shining a spotlight on service. During the month, groups of 2 or more people will give witness to the love of Jesus by participating in a wide variety of service projects to assist their neighbors and communities. In support of our district’s initiative, Faith will have four opportunities for members and their friends to share in witnessing.
Friday, April 10, beginning at 11AM, seniors will pack lunches for individuals facing homelessness in North Chicago and Waukegan. To participate, just show up.
Later that day, members of Faith’s Hispanic Ministry will deliver the prepared lunches. As a part of their ministering, they will share the message, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” from Romans 5:8. They will also assist anyone needing emergency shelter or other interventional case management services by providing contact information to the nearby PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) office. Thursdays in April, members will participate in a prayer walk to pray for and provide spiritual support to members of the Lake Forest community. To participate, contact Maree Garchow (https://faithlakeforest.org/people/maree-garchow/).
Saturday, April 11, Faith members will prepare dinner for a Hispanic Women’s Bible Study that will be held at Faith. To assist this evening or to learn more about the ministry, contact WomensMinistry@FaithLakeForest.org.
Saturday, April 25, beginning at 11AM, Women of Faith will gather to prepare Mother’s Day gifts for mother clients of Aid for Women of Northern Lake County (AFWNLC). To participate, PLEASE SIGN UP on the announcement board.
