Brothers and sisters in Christ, I pray you and yours are well.
This past week our church has been able to build on the relationships God is blessing us with in the city of North Chicago. By God’s grace, we met West Hannah, an employee of Foss Park District (where we held our VBS) and the father of a high school graduate who is a recipient of the scholarship that Faith on the Fairway supports. Also working at Foss Park District is Pat Williams, whose full-time job is in the city of North Chicago public school district. Pat wants to help us start an afterschool activity in the Foss Park District facilities. We praise God from Whom all blessings flow.
Last year was amazing! We netted over $27,000 for the scholarship. We would love to see that number increase this year. As a result of last year’s fundraiser, our church was invited into the public schools “anytime we want.” Nic Cass (our youth worker) has gone several times, even setting up mentoring events for our members with the students and bringing Asher to the children.
We will be having our second annual Faith on the Fairway charity golf outing this September 24 at Foss Park Golf Course in North Chicago. If you would like to become a sponsor, golf, or contribute an item to our virtual auction, you can go to www.FaithOnTheFairway.org.
Our District president, Rev. Dr. Allan Buss, will be our keynote speaker. Special guests will include Dr. John Price, the superintendent of the public schools for the city of North Chicago, as well as Mayor Leon Rockingham. Some of the special items being contributed to this worthy cause are jerseys autographed by Hall of Fame baseball player Ryne Sandberg.
Please continue to pray for our mission work in North Chicago. It has been 35 years since an LCMS church has had its doors open there. And pray for our second annual Faith on the Fairway golf outing.
