This year we will begin a ‘New mover’ ministry. We plan to contract Outreach.com, which identifies new people who have moved into our community. It then sends a postcard inviting them to worship with us at Faith! That is the mechanics of how it will happen, but the next step is up to us!
New can mean modern, contemporary, or latest, but ‘Being New’ – a visitor – can be stressful. The visitor who comes to a church, our church – is a stranger! They are nervous, they want to find a seat in the sanctuary and locate the restrooms without feeling embarrassed. They want to participate in an uplifting worship experience, have satisfying conversations with members, and come away feeling they were welcome. All this contributes to their impression that the visit was a good experience.
We hope they’ll decide to make a second visit. That means in addition to staff, we all need to be friendly and welcome our guests. We want them to have a positive experience, so they will join us again.
