NORTH CHICAGO OUTREACH by Jerry & Delin Hernandez

Hispanic Women’s Ministry – Hello, I hope you are well. Once again I will be sharing what is happening with the Hispanic ministry. This month we had our Bible study at the Lutheran church where the women were sharing the Word. The theme was the “Armor of God.” It is a privilege to be a part of what God is doing in the communities and the daily challenges that families face. We also see the great power of the Word that is the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in every life, in every family that is working, prayers that have been answered, that our God has given us “the armor” which is the Word to be able to fight with every circumstance that which we face and that we know our fight is not against flesh and blood but the flesh, that is, sin and the will of God.

After the study we had a snack, sharing, as a family, that it is better to be in the house of God sharing His heavenly Word and bread for the sustenance of our bodies. The promises of God are always. Amen.

The Great Commission – We are working with the North Chicago community via a prayer walk. On these beautiful days that God has given us, we are on Sherman Avenue in North Chicago near Martin Luther Jr. Avenue. We just visited two families, and we prayed for peace for the neighborhood and for the families to know the Gospel, which is the love of God through Jesus. These families are grateful for what we are doing. We know that there are many more families in need, and we will continue to do the work of the commission, just as we have been making disciples in the homes of this same community and with the Waukegan community, sharing and relating with the people and taking advantage of praying for them. We are also visiting people who are on the streets of North Chicago, who are in need, sharing the Word of God and bringing them food every first Friday of every month prepared by the Lutheran Church of Lake Forest. We met Nicolas Rodriguez, of Mexican origin, who has been here in Illinois for more than 30 years. Nicolas is currently in need of work because his age makes it difficult for him to find work and he cannot find a home because he cannot pay rent and lives on the street. We pray that God gives him comfort, strength and peace and that his life can be restored.

Thank you for your prayers. It is a joy for us to be able to serve our neighbor. God is Good.
