PRAYER WALKING NEW MOVERS by Maree Garchow-Bellchambers
Over the past year or so we have sent postcards to those who move into the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff area welcoming them to the area and giving them information on Faith’s service times and pointing them to our website using a QR code included on the postcard. While following up with individuals has always been a plan the project did not got off the ground till now. When we decided to visit these folk and ask “How can We Pray for you?”
My new mover prayer walk began with prayer, and words I read in my daily reading. These words reminded me that the Holy Spirit would be with me and give me the right words to say in each situation. Luke 12.12 – “The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say at the moment when you need them.” This encouraged me on my prayer walk because I am not the most eloquent and I was a little overwhelmed at the prospect of doing this walk by myself.
Even though a number of folks were not home, I am encouraged to do this again soon. Because the people I met were heartened when asked “How Can We pray for You?” for example a man I met wanted prayer for the holidays and planned to submit his request on the Prayer Cares site. Another family wanted prayer for a flight they were taking that evening.
