By Pastor Jim
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I pray you are well.
January 11th will be the March for Life in Chicago. If you go online, you can find all the information you need.
Within our church, Carol Marwede is an excellent resource to learn more about the March for Life, and how you can prayerfully participate in this important issue.
Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, the President of our church body, will be here in Chicago for this. This is not unusual for our Matt; he frequently comes to March for Life events. My family and I have had the privilege of
walking with him in Washington, D.C. It is a blessing to have a leader of our church body who clearly and publicly stands for the value of human life.
I want to ask you to include special prayers for those women who are in difficult situations. Unfortunately, a pregnant woman may find herself without support, even from her own parents. Please pray for them to have
strength and confidence in spite of their circumstances.
My wife Cathy and I have always felt that it is not enough to simply say, “Be pro life!” We need to demonstrate with our actions and our resources and our loving acceptance that we care for the child-to-be, both before and then especially after they come out of the womb. Parenting is not easy. Young parents need a community of people who care for them, will walk with them, love them, and encourage them. How can we do a better job of this as a congregation? How can we help others to choose life? Let’s be that congregation!
I am a sinner, saved by grace. Let us always be full of grace when we have this discussion with others.
“Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another… and the God of love and peace will be with you… The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be
with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:11-14)
