Asher Blessings

I had a couple of extra Asher greeting cards left over, so I decided to give one to a lady named Christine, who owns the Townee Square restaurant in Libertyville. I have breakfast there every Saturday morning.

One Saturday when Asher and I had an early visitation for a funeral, I took him to the restaurant with me. The staff and everybody loved on Asher, but especially Christine. She is Greek and does a lot of things for the the community. She kept coming back and visiting with Asher, so I decided a card was appropriate. It was especially appropriate as the cover says “Blessings” and “Love, Asher.” It was last weekend, which was Easter weekend for her family.

When she opened the card, she got emotional. I said something about spending Easter with family and friends (she usually has 50+ for the day). She said unfortunately, we can’t do it this year, just my husband and me. She took another look at the card and said, “This is the highlight of my Easter!” And with that, she tacked it up by the cash register, and everyone who came up to pay (carryout orders) heard about Asher and the great things he does. It’s not the same as going out with my buddy, but it felt darn good!
