Worship and Music Director
Faith Lutheran Church, Lake Forest IL is seeking to hire a director of worship and music ministry. The candidate must be able to create an inclusive and spiritual environment that incorporates a variety of musical genres.
This role requires a high level of professionalism. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be a team player.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate with the Pastor in planning, preparing, and playing music appropriate to the worship service.
- Recruit and rehearse the choir to prepare them for Sunday services.
- Be available to play for special gatherings of the church when requested by the Pastor, including holidays.
- Be responsible for playing for weddings and funerals, as needed.
- Assist in the hiring of substitute musicians if not available.
- Pursue opportunities for community collaboration, including other churches, etc.
- Assist with bell choir and potential youth choir.
- Coordinate the maintenance of musical instruments and sound equipment.
- Work collaboratively with the Pastor, Praise and Worship Committee, and choir.
- Be an experienced church musician and should be proficient in piano or organ performance. A degree in sacred music performance is preferred.
- Be familiar with a diversity of musical genres.
- Oversee all worship teams, including altar guild, communion assistants, audio/visual, ushers, readers, and assist in actively recruiting for these roles.
