“You Are Always Welcome”

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

Tuesday, October 26 was a great day of ministry for Faith Lutheran Church. I had the joy and privilege of prayer walking in North Chicago with Gerardo and Delin Hernandez, as well as Maree Garchow.

God provided for us to connect with two households on Hervey Street. The first family we met with is still deeply impacted by the loss of their family member who was murdered two years ago. They were so pleasantly surprised that a church was prayer walking in their community. They said, “We definitely needed your visit today!” I was able to have an impromptu devotional with them and share that it is common to question, “How could a loving God allow this to happen?” From Scripture, I was able to assure them that God does love them and that He has provided for the fallen creation through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. They made sure to tell us, “You are always welcome in our home.”

Our second family we connected with through prayer walking included a mother who was in labor with her fifth baby. We got to meet and pray with the maternal grandmother. And likewise, this family also made sure we knew—we were always welcome to minister to them.

In the evening, the leadership team of Faith on the Fairway was invited to the school board meeting for the city of North Chicago public schools. I had the opportunity to introduce our team and even share with them a little about our prayer walking in their community, commending them for the importance of how they serve. They were very thankful for the scholarships we were able to fund and look forward to working with us in the future. Ms. Dora King, the Independent Authority Chair, said, “You are always welcome in this school. Anytime you want to come, we look forward to having you.”

“You are always welcome here.” Great words to hear from our neighbors. God is blessing us at Faith Lutheran Church. We praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

V/r,

Pastor Jim
